  Is shunning unscriptual?

  international version 1 cor 5:11. but now i am writing to you that you must not associate with anyone who claims to be a brother or sister but is sexually immoral or greedy, an idolater or slanderer, a drunkard or swindler.

  do not even eat with such people.. if shunning is wrong.

  .how does one explain this scripture?.

  13 year anniversary

  today marks 13 years since my wife and i have stepped inside a kingdom hall.

  after 29 years full on being a jw and a number of years serving as an elder then as the presiding overseer we pulled the plug.

  yes 13 years ago coming home from the first day of a circuit assembly i said to my wife “that’s it i am not going back”.

  that night. It turned out I had late night snack, something that didn't agree with me.

  It's hard to think that there is it no after life, no dancing around in paradise, no growing

  old, no singing Kingdom songs all day and no flying around in heaven.

  We grow old and die and that's it, not a pleasure thought. If I'm wrong that's great,

  but I have excepted that fact and fine with it.

  WingCommander: I thought of that last night, "Blood issue", and my brother waving my

  daughter and grandkids in my face. I'am thankful that he encourage her to come by to see me,

  but on the other hand at the family gathering my ex-JW wife and her husband was there. My

  non-JW sister said it made her sick to see my ex and her husband there and I can't step foot into

  his house. But you know I'am fine with it, I'am just happy to have my daughter back.

  I like to add this I see something different with my family. Both my sons followed me out but my two

  daughters are close to their mom so they stayed in. My youngest JW daughter and her JW husband told

  me they will never shun me, she told her husband don't talk about JW stuff around my dad.LOL

  When my daughter came to visit Sat. when we embraced all the other kids were also tear eyed,

  my daughters, there husband and my grandkids. The one son-in law that told me he will never shun me

  grabbed me as they were leaving and whispered in my ear, pop we are family, right.

  Jesus wasn't concerned with keeping harmony in families, He was concerned with making disciples.

  Paul , he was the first JW with all his rules.

  Thanks again for all your kind words. I slept like a baby last night and all the anger I had

  against that organization have diminished. I hope that all you kind folks here that is going

  through shunning by love ones will be resolved and reunited with love ones ,it is toxic.

  The numbers and members here would be very small if the GB would stop poisoning the

  minds of our love ones.

  Thanks folks for all your support. I was so nervous, because last time I saw her she told

  me I look so old. Not this time, a big smile and a long hug. I'am not sure what happen but

  she have changed. This daughter had a scholarship to attend OSU but turn it down to pioneer.

  Today she is a nurse. I ask her, so you went to college? She told me yes three years and I learned

  a lot. So we agree to keep in contact and if she would like to talk about why I will never return, that's

  ok. But we had so many other things to talk about.

  It was very moving. We both shed a tear. She told me my JW elder brother and her new

  husband told her enough is enough. Her husband told her I want to meet your dad, my

  granddaughter who I have never met told I want to meet my grand-dad and my

  JW brother told her you go by and see your father.

  She told me dad, I was wrong and you were and still a good dad. I guess with my divorce

  from my first husband you look at things differently, everything is not black and white.

  My non JW family was waiting by their phone to hear about it, so now some of them will go

  to the family gathering today at my JW brother home. My non JW sister told me when she see

  my daughter today at the gathering she will give her a big hug.

  What a great day!!!

  I'am still not invited and that's ok, I saw my daughter and family.

  One more thing, my daughter husband is not a elder or MS... Her last husband was a

  SafeAthome: My JW brother called my sister this passed week about a family gathering today,

  all was invited. So my sister called him back and ask, when you say all is invited does that

  include James? He told her NO. James knows what he needs to do.

  It was a mess, the non-JW family members said they will no go if I'am not invited. This sh--t has

  been going on since 1987.

  So I'm wondering if this have anything to do with my daughter coming by before the family gathering

  later today.

  I must go now and will get back to you folks after the visit.
